Liquidation Partner or Junk Removal Crew?

Liquidation Partner or Junk Removal Crew?

A truck and two guys with dollies can clear a room. Whether they can clear it in a way that protects your company from liability is a different question. Here's how to tell which one you've hired.

One: they never ask about data. If nobody on the crew asks whether any of the equipment holds company or client data before loading it onto a truck, that's a liability gap, not a convenience.

Two: everything goes to one place. A genuine liquidation partner sorts on site: resale candidates separated from donation candidates separated from scrap. If it all goes into the same truck headed to the same transfer station, you're paying disposal rates for assets that had resale value.

Three: no paperwork at the end. A compliant decommission ends with a disposition report, not just an invoice. If a landlord, auditor, or your own finance team ever asks where the assets went, you need something more than a memory of the day.

Four: no insurance conversation. Ask about WSIB coverage and general liability before crews are on site, not after an incident. A real liquidation company will have this answer ready without hesitation.

Five: pricing is a flat per-truckload rate regardless of what's in it. That structure gives the vendor no incentive to separate resale-worthy items from scrap, because it doesn't change what they charge you.
